Asia’s entertainment content industry has evolved, and we are proud to be part of this growth.
Take a look at our journey, as we celebrate the past, and get set to stream the future.

    Hello ATF!

Modelled after its sister events in Cannes, ATF was first launched as a hotel-based format market for the pan Asian region on Singapore’s Sentosa island.

Supported by the Singapore Broadcasting Authority, the then Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore, 800 attendees from 32 countries participated in the inaugural edition.

From France with Love: France's Foray into Asia

The France Pavilion, led by TV France International, has been gracing every edition of ATF since 2001.

    Market Expansion

The market expanded into the bigger Shangri-La Hotel located in central Singapore, taking over the hotel's entire Garden Wing.

The move into a bigger venue allowed the market to welcome more companies, including major studios.

    Pavilions, Pavilions, Pavilions!

The Australia Pavilion, led by Australian Trade and Investment Commission; the Korean Pavilion, led by Seoul Animation Center; the Italian Pavilion, led by Rai Trade, and the Spanish Pavilion, led by Federation of Spanish Audiovisual Producer Associations (FAPAE) joined the market.

ATF welcomed the influx of Korean dramas led by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) Pavilion.

    Continued Market Expansion

Nine pavilions and key studios, including BBC Studios, embellished a growing base. ATF eventually evolved into a bigger exhibition-based format with the shift to Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

    Industry Recognition

Almost a decade in, ATF won the "Best Exhibition of the Year” award at the Singapore Experience Awards (Organised by the Singapore Tourism Board).

    Asia Rising

With a surge in Asian content, Asian Pavilions and key brands started rolling into ATF. The year 2010 marked the start of an increasing emphasis on localised content.

    Iconic Shift

ATF finally moved into the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, one of Asia’s most recognisable landmarks. It remains on this site today.

    Conference Launched

The ATF Summit (Pre-market conference) was launched.

ATF won the "Best Exhibition of the Year” award for the 2nd time.

    Major Studios

Major studios established their presence at Level 3 of the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Held in conjunction with SGIFF for the first time, after their 2-year hiatus from the scene, ATF took on the role as organizers during this year.

Led by KOFIC to help companies promote their brand and sales content, build their overseas cooperative network and conduct market research through ATF.

One of the best parts about ATF has always been about the people. From the exhibitors to the participants, speakers to partners, everyone has had their fair share of work and fun done, and memories created at ATF.

Hear what the passionate people of ATF have to say about the event. You can share your stories too.

    • I have been coming to ATF from the very beginning, so if ATF is 20 years old, it means I have been coming for 20 years. The first 16 years of me coming to ATF was as a buyer, and now for the last 4 years has been as a distributor of Filipino content. Over the years, I have seen ATF grown tremendously with more participants, more companies and more buyers coming. So it is nice to be a part of something you saw from the very beginning, to something now that is one of the most important markets in Asia.

Congratulations to all those with ATF for the good work you have been doing all these years!

Roxanne J. Barcelona, Vice President, GMA Worldwide Inc

    • I have been coming here for 20 years now because we get the good connection in terms of seeing all the buyers and sellers, a lot of them. This is one of the greatest networks for the Asian television industry. That’s why I have to come here all the time.

Congratulations for the 20th anniversary. You keep doing better and better every year, so I wish all the best to the whole team. You are the best Asian market!

Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, CEO, JKN Global Media Public Company Limited

    • I have been participating in more than 10 ATFs until now. There is more people participating currently and the market is continuing to grow.

It has changed a lot. It used to be in a hotel suite and there was much less people. Not all Asian countries were represented at that time. Now we can see that it is really a global Asian market. It is the most important market which allows us European to judge Asian market globally and to my knowledge, it’s the most important market that I can attend.

All the best wishes to ATF and Happy 20th Anniversary!

Ulrich Lagriffoul, VP International Sales, Mediawan Rights

    • I have been coming to ATF every single year for the last 17 years and I think to me it has always been a market that’s not only at the end of the year, but is always THAT market that allows you to meet everybody really based in Asia. One of the really interesting things that has changed is the format of the show. So if you go back into Sentosa, then Shangri-la, that was when you used to have a room that you used to hold meetings. The change came when we went to Suntec and then MBS. The format is the biggest change and this is perfect! Happy 20th anniversary, that’s fantastic!

Natalie Lawley, Managing Director, Escapade Media

    • It has grown tremendously, it’s amazing. Apart from crowd, I think the set-up has also grown and develop very well. It is on the same level as an international market that we all attend. It has to start somewhere.

When it first started, it was a humbling start. To see where it is now - bigger floors and bigger booths - it’s amazing and I really wish all the best to the ATF team because they have done an incredible job especially organizing and always being very proactive in making sure to provide information ahead of time.

To ATF as an event, to our industry peers and colleagues and friends and partners, congratulations for surviving for 20 years. May ATF continue to flourish and blossom in the future years. Also a special thank you to the ATF team because they have done a great job in reaching out to buyers and sellers and making sure that we are always meeting!

      Airin Zainul, Director, Media Prima

    • When I first started coming, it was very much about international companies coming to Asia, to sell to Asia. And I feel, especially since it moved to MBS, the focus has shifted from international content into Asia, into Asian content in Asia and around the world. And to see the production value of Asia grow, to see it reaching new markets, to see Japanese show being remade in Korea, to see India drama airing in Turkey, it is amazing.

Honestly, this is probably my favourite event of the year. I think it has the balance right between conference and market, getting the right thought leaders here to speak on industry trends but also enabling business to get things done because the end of the day, that’s what matters.

We would like to thank Reed for our long standing collaboration. Looking forward for many more years to come!

Mansha Daswani, Editor - Associate Publisher & VP of Strategic Development, World Screen

Tell us the best memories you've had at ATF. We want to hear from you!
